I assure you that Michelle wishes she was on this trip and so we will have to return with the girls sometime in the future, (applause) she would also applaud for that. As Madame Prime Minister indicated, we had a lot to talk about. First and foremost we discussed how much we support the ongoing reform efforts in Jamaica to deal with its public debt while still making investments in youth and the people of Jamaica which ultimately will determine long term growth to strengthen good governance and rule of law.”US President Barack Obama last night landed at the Norman Manley Intl Airport, was whisked by helicopter to a tour of the Bob Marley museum, which he called one of his most enjoyable experiences since becoming president; adding that he has been a fan of the man and his music which speaks to the spirit of Jamaica. CARICOM leaders numbered fourteen; according to a JIS source close to Magnetic Media and a meeting with those leaders at the UWI immediately followed a press conference which was held at Jamaica House. President Obama, escorted by Hon Portia Simpson Miller, Prime Minister of Jamaica had earlier on signed and commented in the Official Diplomatic and Courtesy books; funniest thing, Obama added April 10, 2015 – which is the wrong date. It has become a source of fun for the regional media. Just moments ago, a White House town hall meeting wrapped up. It was held at the University of the West Indies and among the students selected to attend and selected to ask a question of President Obama was a female Turks and Caicos Islander studying at UWI. The question focused on the financial services sector and its increased stringency; President Obama gave a comprehensive response and cited Singapore as a good model for the Caribbean when it comes to being more diverse and competitive. The president has had a full day, but shortly will leave Kingston en route to Panama City, Panama for the Seventh Summit of the Americas where for the first time Cuba, a Communist regime, will be in attendance. Diego Simeone weighs in on Lopeteguis sacking

first_imgAtletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, gave his two cents after the news of Lopetegui’s sacking from Real Madrid became public.Following up on Julen Lopetegui getting fired from Real Madrid this Monday, there are many football figures who gave their opinion on the matter but none was as poignant as Diego Simeone’s.The Atletico Madrid manager offered a press conference this Monday ahead of the Colchoneros’ Copa del Rey match against Sant Andreu on Tuesday, the Argentine manager didn’t want to talk about it at first, but the constant questioning eventually made him break protocol and did leave a headline worth mentioning.“All we think right now is about ourselves, whatever happens around us is not very good for us to talk about, that’s the way we understand it,” said Simeone quoted by La Sexta.“What is important right now for us is only to improve, we need to keep the same line we are having right now despite our defeat against Borussia which was very painful.”“The squad played very well during the first half and the second against Real Sociedad, which was the most difficult squad we could face as visitors right now,” he added.Fati and Suarez shine against Valencia at Camp Nou Tomás Pavel Ibarra Meda – September 15, 2019 With a mesmerizing first half from Ansu Fati and a brace from Luis Suarez in the second half, Barcelona demolished Valencia at Camp Nou.Valencia…“That is life, it gives your responsibilities and it always demands the best from you, depending on where you are,” said ‘Cholo’ about Lopetegui’s situation.“Sometimes you get more demanded from life or sometimes less, and this is a game that puts together many situations in which the people around us cannot take for granted, that’s obvious.”#Atleti 🔴⚪ | Simeone: “¿Lopetegui? Penton Converts Tech Group to AllDigital

first_imgAfter promotional emails were sent to readers informing them that new digital editions were replacing their print counterparts last Friday, Penton officially announced that its Technology Media Group, which publishes Windows IT Pro, DevPro, Power IT Pro and SQL Server Pro, among other brands, will go completely digital starting in May.Peg Miller, the company’s tech group leader, says the only remaining print title will be System iNEWS ProVIP, which is a high-end and high-priced journal. The Technology Media Group is one of about 18 different b-to-b verticals that Penton targets. Miller says the transition was triggered by a combination of signs. Research done with readers and advertisers indicated that interest was shifting to the digital platform and that was translating into an increase in digital edition readership. “Over the last year, we started seeing double-digit gains in our digital edition subscriptions—and those were a very basic edition without our full strategy,” she says. That strategy includes relaunching the digital editions with a richer media experience including audio and video. While Miller declined to provide details on the performance of the print brands. Nevertheless, Miller says the new production workflow is freeing up the content team from what was previously a print-centric approach. “This has liberated our content team from print-centric deadlines to think more about what the customers want,” she says. Miller also declined to offer details on any changes in subscription pricing and advertising rates, but notes that ads are being sold on more long-term schedules rather than the one-offs that made frequent appearances in the print editions. The staffing implications of the change are unclear at the moment and Miller says resources will continue to be looked at as the new digital production workflow is ironed out over the next year. Transitioning to all-digital formats has become a common occurrence for publishers, particularly in the technology vertical. But only a few years ago, that meant online-only. Now, of course, publishers have more platform options available to them. Ziff Davis Enterprise announced its “OmniDigital” strategy last October when it planned to take its brands all-digital, focusing on websites, mobile sites, tablets and digital editions. That plan had barely gotten underway when ZDE was sold to online lead-gen company QuinStreet in early February.last_img read more

LETTER TO THE EDITOR Town Moderator Candidate Kevin MacDonald Supports First Amendment

first_imgDear Editor,Our Country was founded by men of faith who believed in creating a foundation where liberty and justice would stand and not fall. A nation whose people were free from tyranny and government oppression. The U. S. Constitution is that very foundation. It is the “supreme law of the land”. Provided in the U.S. Constitution is the right to free speech. This right is not found in the eighth, ninth, or tenth amendment, but rather in the first amendment because of its enormous magnitude of importance.I believe the people of Wilmington, who have witnessed abuses of power in the position of Moderator, have to ask themselves this question: Will the denial of free speech continue to be tolerated or will my vote for a new Moderator say “TIME’S UP” for violating our civil rights?  Let’s build on the foundation of freedom and let liberty, justice, and truth deliver the people of Wilmington out from the grip of government oppression. May the patriots of Wilmington make “Town Meeting”, which is the most important financial meeting of the year, be a meeting void of deceit, void of phony over budgeting, and void of actions that force good families out of their own community. As I go around town, I meet many elderly people that have retired and had to go back to work because they can’t afford their real estate taxes. I recently met a senior citizen that is 91 years old and still has to work. I also recognize that there are families with children. These children make friends in school, in their neighborhoods, in sports and in other activities. When a family is forced out of town this is a traumatic experience for a child. As I drive around town, I see many “for sale” signs on people’s houses who have been here for decades. This is a very sad truth. I believe the cause can be pointed directly at an irresponsible local government that has forgotten its mission statement and has gotten self-centered and out of control. The question of whether there is conflict of interest has to be introduced into the conversation for a solution. Can a moderator, who has a relationship to a family law firm that brings business before the town looking for special permits, variances, and other approvals, be trusted with allowing opposition and challenge against the very government that will grant an approval? Do you believe he has broken that trust? Can a solution to government financial oppression be attained if people are denied the right to question, expose, challenge, or oppose?Let the great “Patriots of Wilmington” come together and stand on the foundation of freedom and demand liberty, truth, and justice. Let your right to challenge crooked government no longer be violated.  Let us stand and say that a violation of the “supreme law of the land” is reproachable no matter what. “REPROACHABLE” even if Town officials past and present don’t respect the law. “TIME’S UP” Vote April 28th or get an absentee ballot from Town Hall. Help by bringing other supporters.Thank you,Kevin MacDonald(Candidate for Moderator)Like Wilmington Apple on Facebook. Follow Wilmington Apple on Twitter. Follow Wilmington Apple on Instagram.
