LETTER TO THE EDITOR Town Moderator Candidate Kevin MacDonald Supports First Amendment

first_imgDear Editor,Our Country was founded by men of faith who believed in creating a foundation where liberty and justice would stand and not fall. A nation whose people were free from tyranny and government oppression. The U. S. Constitution is that very foundation. It is the “supreme law of the land”. Provided in the U.S. Constitution is the right to free speech. This right is not found in the eighth, ninth, or tenth amendment, but rather in the first amendment because of its enormous magnitude of importance.I believe the people of Wilmington, who have witnessed abuses of power in the position of Moderator, have to ask themselves this question: Will the denial of free speech continue to be tolerated or will my vote for a new Moderator say “TIME’S UP” for violating our civil rights?  Let’s build on the foundation of freedom and let liberty, justice, and truth deliver the people of Wilmington out from the grip of government oppression. May the patriots of Wilmington make “Town Meeting”, which is the most important financial meeting of the year, be a meeting void of deceit, void of phony over budgeting, and void of actions that force good families out of their own community. As I go around town, I meet many elderly people that have retired and had to go back to work because they can’t afford their real estate taxes. I recently met a senior citizen that is 91 years old and still has to work. I also recognize that there are families with children. These children make friends in school, in their neighborhoods, in sports and in other activities. When a family is forced out of town this is a traumatic experience for a child. As I drive around town, I see many “for sale” signs on people’s houses who have been here for decades. This is a very sad truth. I believe the cause can be pointed directly at an irresponsible local government that has forgotten its mission statement and has gotten self-centered and out of control. The question of whether there is conflict of interest has to be introduced into the conversation for a solution. Can a moderator, who has a relationship to a family law firm that brings business before the town looking for special permits, variances, and other approvals, be trusted with allowing opposition and challenge against the very government that will grant an approval? Do you believe he has broken that trust? Can a solution to government financial oppression be attained if people are denied the right to question, expose, challenge, or oppose?Let the great “Patriots of Wilmington” come together and stand on the foundation of freedom and demand liberty, truth, and justice. Let your right to challenge crooked government no longer be violated.  Let us stand and say that a violation of the “supreme law of the land” is reproachable no matter what. “REPROACHABLE” even if Town officials past and present don’t respect the law. “TIME’S UP” Vote April 28th or get an absentee ballot from Town Hall. Help by bringing other supporters.Thank you,Kevin MacDonald(Candidate for Moderator)Like Wilmington Apple on Facebook. Follow Wilmington Apple on Twitter. Follow Wilmington Apple on Instagram.
