Croatia and Liverpool defender floors protester during World Cup final

first_imgCroatian centre-back Dejan Lovren pushed a pitch invader to the floor during his country’s World Cup final defeat to France.The game was briefly halted when four protesters ran onto the Luzhniki pitch in the 52nd minute. The band are known critics of Russian president Vladamir Putin. They demanded an end to illegal arrests at rallies and that all political prisoners are released.A statement from the group read: “NEWS FLASH! Just a few minutes ago four Pussy Riot members performed in the FIFA World Cup final match — ‘Policeman enters the Game’.“Today is 11 years since the death of the great Russian poet, Dmitriy Prigov. Prigov created an image of a policeman, a carrier of the heavenly nationhood, in the Russian culture.”All four protesters were dressed as members of security and were eventually dragged off the field by stewards and police. Lovren shouted at the protester Croatia were trailing 2-1 at that stage and the Liverpool defender was less than impressed with the untimely interruption.When a male protester approached him, apparently trying to get a high-five, Lovren shoved him to the ground and told him to get off the pitch.Russian punk rockers Pussy Riot have claimed responsibility for the incident.
